A truly unique offering on the South Coast, "Greene Acres" is an impressive Neo Georgian estate. Designed in 1902 by celebrated architects Peabody and Stearns for Francis B. Greene, son of a prominent New Bedford whaling magnate, the residence originally stood at the heart of an 80-acre country estate. Inside, the home's extraordinary scale and character unfold through soaring ceilings, Palladian windows, detailed dentil moldings, and a striking columned entrance hall. Generously proportioned formal rooms and light-filled living spaces retain the craftsmanship and elegance of the Gilded Age. Updated electrical, plumbing, and baths bring modern convenience, while abundant opportunity remains to restore and personalize this exceptional historic residence. The grounds are equally special, featuring a century-old Italianate walled garden with a potting house and reflection pool ready to be brought back to life. Beaches, conservation trails, and the coastal beauty of South Dartmouth are close at hand, with ferry service to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard and the new South Coast Rail to Boston approximately 15 minutes away. Steeped in history and rich with possibility, Greene Acres awaits its next steward to carry this remarkable South Coast estate
